About ALIVER

Researchers have been experimenting for over 25 years before ALIVER was granted EU funding. We have collected massive amounts of material on extracorporeal liver support over the past 25 years, including a complete collection about the albumin dialysis meetings since 1999. Some of the ALIVER project contributors also had the privilege of being involved with the fathers of the concept of extracorporeal perfusion as a therapy option in liver failure, which includes CIRCE (later Arbios), the BioLogic DT, ELAD (with all its operations starting with Hepatix, Vitagen and now Vital Therapies Inc.) and, of course, MARS and all of its “descendants”, including SPAD, ADVOS (Hepawash), OPAL, etc
